Garage Command Centre › MOT reminder software
MOT reminder software that runs itself
Garage Command Centre sends MOT reminders automatically from DVSA expiry dates, so there is no spreadsheet to keep and nobody has to remember. Reminders go out overnight by text from your own number, the customer can reply to book, and the reply lands in your message queue. It is included from £199 a month.
Why MOT reminders get forgotten
Almost every garage knows it should chase MOTs and almost none do it consistently. The reason is always the same: it is a manual job that has to happen every single week, and the week it gets skipped is the week the customer goes to the place down the road. A spreadsheet only works while somebody has time to open it.
An MOT that lapses is not a small loss. It is the test fee, the work the test finds, and often the customer for good.
Where the dates come from
You do not type them in. Expiry dates come straight from the DVSA, so the list is right without anyone maintaining it. Type a registration and you also get that vehicle's full DVSA MOT history and defect list, which tells you what it failed on last time before it comes through the door.
What actually happens
- The reminders send themselves. They go out overnight, on their own, without anyone pressing anything.
- They come from your number. The customer sees your garage, and can text straight back.
- Replies land in one queue. The answer arrives in the same message list as everything else, longest wait at the top, logged against the car.
- Opt-outs are respected. A customer who asks to stop receiving them is taken off the list.
- Bookings go in the diary. A customer who books online drops straight into the right slot.
Filling the quiet weeks
The useful part is not only that the reminders go out, it is when. A garage's diary has soft days, and MOT reminders are one of the few levers that reliably fill them, because the work already belongs to you and the customer already knows you.
When they switch on
Reminders run on your garage's own messaging number, and registering that number is something only you can do: it is a regulatory step that has to be completed in your own business name. We start it on day one of onboarding because it is the part with a lead time. Once the number is live, the reminders begin going out on their own and customers can text you straight back.
Texts are in the price
Every plan includes 400 texts a month on a number of your own. You do not open an account with a text company and there is no separate bill. If you need more they are £6 for about 100, bought in your dashboard, and anything you do not use rolls over.
What it costs
MOT reminders are part of the garage software at £199 a month, not a paid extra. We are not VAT registered, so there is nothing to add on top, and there is no setup fee or minimum term.
